Jerry Reeder is the Executive Director of Special Services for the Rio Rancho Public Schools and has spent his entire 29-year career serving students with disabilities and believes passionately in being an advocate and voice for students who need additional support. He has been the Executive Director of Special Services for the Rio Rancho Public Schools for the last 17 years. He has an excellent team behind him in the Rio Rancho Public Schools that is especially strong in supporting students, schools, principals and staff when they are facing unique and challenging situations. Rio Rancho Public Schools is the third largest school district in the state of New Mexico with a little over 17,300 students and has 4,274 students on IEPs of which 3,177 are students with disabilities and 1,097 are gifted.
Jerry has served on numerous state and national committees over the years. He has been a member of the New Mexico Council of Administrators of Special Education (NMCASE) for 23 years. He has found it very rewarding to be able to work with special education directors and superintendents from across the state to help find solutions to the many common concerns and questions that we face on a daily basis. Through NMCASE, he has had the opportunity to mentor several new special education directors as they take on their new roles.
